Climbing will make its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 and will feature three disciplines: speed climbing, bouldering and lead climbing. Each competing climber will take part in all three disciplines and the final rankings will be determined by the combined results.
Climbers can use safety ropes in the lead climbing discipline, however, no other equipment is allowed and competitors must climb using only their bare hands and climbing shoes. It's a tough sport - climbers will require skill, strength and flexibility in order to reach their way to the top of their sport.
This is great news for the activity industry and those who instruct within it - bringing more popularity to the sport.
