Frequently asked questions

Is it a requirement that I purchase public liability?

Although public liability is not a legal requirement, it’s often the first cover bought by any Yoga and Pilates business. As you are training clients on their physical and mental wellbeing, there is a risk of injury occurring, which public liability will cover you for. The general industry standard is £5,000,000, but we can also arrange £2m and £10m limits of indemnity.

Do you provide advice on insurance?

Yes, we are an independent insurance broker who provide impartial advice within the fitness and outdoor activity industries. We’re here to answer your queries.  Further to this, we manage our clients’ insurances from inception to renewal, keeping the policy up to date and relevant.

Am I covered if I train people externally as well as at my premises?

The liability polices we arrange enable you to train clients anywhere in the UK. So whether it’s at your premises or at one of your client’s homes, you are covered to provide your services.

What payment options are provided?

You can pay by one of the following methods:

BACS

Cheque

Card

Premium Finance via Direct Debit

Do you provide business package policies?

Yes, we generally intend to provide policies on a package basis so that businesses are insured to a high level. However, bespoke options are available and less/more cover can be purchased depending on what is suitable to your own situation.

What happens if I close down my studio?

If you close down the studio, we can lapse the policy from the next renewal date meaning that you will not need to purchase another policy. As the contract is only a yearly basis, once the policy ends you can end the insurance.

What do I need to do if I need to make a claim?

If you need to make a claim, we are here to help with the process. Please call us immediately in the event of a claim and we’ll guide you through the necessary steps in order to get it resolved. We aim to make the process as stress-free as possible as we understand it can be a difficult time.

We create an affordable and bespoke policy to suit your requirements

We are able to provide your Pilates & Yoga studio with various types of cover to suit your specific requirements, such as:

Public liability

Protecting your business against bodily injury claims or third party property damage claims that may occur, which you may be held responsible for. For a public liability claim to be successful, it would have to be proven that the defendant was negligent. Insurers will deal with your defence costs and handle the settlement of the claim, so you can continue to run your business.

Employers liability

Employers liability can be a legal requirement even if you employ staff on a part time basis or have volunteers helping the business. We are able to provide advice on this area of insurance as it can often be a grey area for businesses. Employers liability will protect the business from injury claims by employees that the gym may be accountable for.

Buildings and contents

We can include cover for additional contents including Pilates and Yoga equipment and that you need to insure. You may also own the building or require insurance as part of the lease agreement. Speak to us and we can provide you with cover for your specific requirements.

Business interruption

This element of cover can often be vital to a package policy for businesses.  For example, should your gymnasium have to close for a lengthy amount of time due to flood or fire, business interruption cover will allow your business to still receive the turnover it would have gained if it was able to trade.
